About us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hi, Let us introduce ourselves\u2026..<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We are Hugh and Amanda and we live in a natural bushland home about an hour\u2019s drive north
of Melbourne, Australia. We also run a busy Auction House
and personal relocation services business in Melbourne under the brands of 
Abbeys Auctions <\/a>and Classic Moves<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, just before the onset of the pandemic, we made a pact to take on a bold project.
To travel overland from Melbourne to London, UK. We agreed a departure date of February 2023
and set about equipping ourselves (and our business) for the journey. Little could we have known what the next three years would bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In researching for the trip, we have encountered an amazing wealth of knowledge compiled
through the generosity of those who have gone before us. This website has been built as a place
to share experiences with family and friends, and also to give back to the overlanding community. We\u2019d like to share what we learn and discover along the way in the hope that it may help others to also follow their passions.<\/p>\n<\/div>

AUSMAX Overland<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Why “ausmax” you may ask? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our chosen vehicle for the journey is a Toyota 78 Series Landcruiser Troop carrier. She is big, extremely capable and can go almost anywhere. She will be our home as we travel, our mobile office, kitchen, living room and bedroom all in one. Our Troopy will be the key to maximum adventure so it wasn\u2019t long before the name \u201cMax\u201d stuck. Max is registered in Australia with the registration number AUSMAX. Using an international passport for our car called a Carnet de Passages en Duane<\/a><\/em>, we will be able to drive Max on her Australian registration in most countries throughout this trip. We hope that you enjoy our stories<\/a> as our travels unfold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
